Newsletter: Spring 2025, vol. 1
Hello Common Ground Community!
We don’t know about you, but the time change hasn’t felt nearly as hard as it could have with all this beautiful spring weather! It’s been so nice to spend so much more of our time outdoors, and to be able to take advantage of daylight after the center closes. With that, we have a few spring time reminders to help keep our community safe.
Come Spread Mulch - April 5th
We are getting a tractor trailer load of certified wood carpet to top dress our playground! We need volunteers on April 5th to:
Spread mulch
watch the children of mulch spreaders (with teacher help)
We also need people to bring wheelbarrows, pitchforks, and rakes. We will have water coolers, gatorade, lemonade, and some snacks for helpers and kids! This is a great opportunity to meet other parents too! There are three one hour shifts for mulch spreading. sign up for one or all three! (childcare is only provided for the shifts that you are working)

Parking Lot Etiquette
Driveway Blocked: We will begin blocking the driveway in front of the playground in the afternoons. This will allow for a little bit of a buffer for our parents to be able to walk up to pick up their children and collect their things, if they are hanging on the fence.
Hand Holding: It is important that children are escorted by an adult when they are in the parking lot. For most of children in our care, that means that they should hold the hand of the adult they are with. We will be going over parking lot safety with every class during social emotional time, as a reminder for the kids.
Drive Slowly, Reverse with Care: Remember that there are small children crossing our parking lot with their parents at all times. Please drive very slowly and carefully. Take particular caution when reversing both into and out of parking spots.
After Pick- Up Playground Usage
We know our playground is a lot of fun and that your child may want to stay and play after you pick them up. However, our classes need to have priority over the playground until we close at 5:30pm. Please follow the following rules in the evenings:
If a class other than your child’s class is using a section of the playground, your child may not join them. This is for the safety of both the children in our care and your child.
If you want to stay and play and have checked out your child, you must supervise them. They may play:
with their class in the same section, under your supervision (you must also be in that section)
in an open section not being used by another class, under your supervision
We know that the blacktop is a sought after play area, so we will be opening it for families to stay and play on Wednesdays at 5pm. Other than Wednesdays, it does not open until after 5:45pm. If you use the vehicles on the blacktop, please make sure to return them to the mulch area, so that the blacktop is clear when you leave.
Thank you for your assistance with this, as it is our goal to keep all the children safe on our playground.
Thank you so much for being a part of our community!
