2026 Required Trainings
On Tuesday, February 17th, we have a staff development day and will be having a 2 hour breakfast staff meeting. (this means we are postponing our BBQ lunch!) The rest of the day will be set aside for the required trainings listed in this post. You will receive a personalized brightwheel message that lets you which trainings you need to complete.
You have options as to when you complete your trainings. You can do them BEFORE our staff meeting and then take the rest of the day off. You can do them on site after the staff meeting, or you can finish them at home on the 17th. You are responsible for completing all of the assigned trainings and for sending the PDF certificate to us by February 23, 2026. Your certificates are your ticket to get paid the additional 6 hours of the training day.
Virginia Annual Health and Safety Update Training for Child Care Staff (2026) - this is a better kid care training and can be done from a phone or iPad. This is an annual update and must be done every year. (3 training hours, takes 90 minutes to complete)
Virginia Preservice Training for All Child Care Staff: Foundations for Health and Safety - this is a better kid care training and can be done from a phone or iPad. This is a new training that will replace the 10 hour training. (3 training hours, takes 90 minutes to complete)
CHLD 2015 - Child Abuse and Neglect: Recognition And Reporting - In order to receive a certificate, you have to have TWO tabs open and when you finish, only close the tab that the course video is running on, leaving the tab that the course launched from open. If you do not know how to do this, we are able to assist you. Please ask for help. This training must be completed annually. (4 training hours, takes 1 hour to complete)
CHLD 2016 - Health Screening for Child Care Professionals - In order to receive a certificate, you have to have TWO tabs open and when you finish, only close the tab that the course video is running on, leaving the tab that the course launched from open. If you do not know how to do this, we are able to assist you. Please ask for help. This training must be completed every 3 years. (4 training hours, takes 1 hour to complete)
Once you have completed your trainings, please do the following:
Better kid care trainings: FORWARD the certificate that is emailed to you at the completion of the course to LJ@commongroundchildcare.org (LJ isn’t doing the work, but both Liz and Victoria can see these emails). If you do not do that, please provide your Better Kid Care login information to Liz.
CCWA trainings:
if you complete this on your own, please either email a PDF of the certificate or provide your username a login so that we can access your certificate.
if we help you with a computer or ipad, we just need your username and password to access your certificate.
